I’m glad you’re here.
I’m Jewel Afflerbaugh. I am an individual and couples therapist in Boulder, Colorado. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of relationship to heal and transform. When we feel safe, secure, and understood we easefully create the positive change we most desire in our lives. In therapy, we create a space where you are supported to meet all the challenges of your life with presence, curiosity, compassion.
Much of my wisdom comes from experiencing the joys and challenges of nearly 20 years of marriage, 13 years of motherhood, and an eclectic professional path. At different stages of my life, the steady presence of skilled counselors helped me to understand my experience and embrace the full range of my feelings and I am profoundly grateful for their support. My deep respect and appreciation for the sacred gift of therapy is what led me to become a licensed psychotherapist in Boulder. It is from a place of embodied healing and rigorous training that I offer therapeutic support to my clients.
My purpose is co-creating with other whole-hearted humans who are longing to explore the unknown edges of this wild and sacred life and be transformed by the process. I am honored to embark on this journey with you to reclaim the connection, joy, and well-being that you deserve.
What to Expect
My approach is collaborative, creative and appropriately challenging. Rooted in attachment theory and somatic (body-centered) therapy, I personalize our sessions to meet you where you are. At your pace, I support you to develop body awareness, identify sensations, experience feelings, and transform distress in the nervous system. Together we find a pathway back to your innate wisdom and aliveness. By addressing needs that may not have been fully met in your earliest relationships, you (re)learn how to source safety. Cultivating your capacity to meet yourself fully often dramatically shifts symptoms of anxiety, depression, irritability, and malaise and leads to a sense of liberation and overall wellbeing. This unwavering relationship with yourself becomes the new foundation for meaningful connection with others and the world.
